What's Involved with Getting Veneers?
We can typically complete the veneers process in two appointments at our Ontario, OR, dental office.
During the first, we remove a very thin layer of your tooth's surface. Next, we take an impression and work with you to choose a natural-looking shade, so your restorations blend perfectly with your smile.
It takes about two weeks for a custom dental lab to handcraft beautiful, realistic-looking veneers. While you wait, we'll provide you with a set of temporaries to protect your teeth.
You'll return to Dahle Family Dentistry for your second appointment when we receive your final veneers. Dr. Daniel will perform a quality check to ensure the veneers are up to our high standards, try them on your teeth and adjust for fit as needed, then cement them securely in place.
What You Should Know about Veneers
Porcelain veneers can transform your smile, but there are some things to consider before deciding if veneers are right for you:
- Your teeth and gums need to be healthy before you get veneers, so your dentist may have to first complete some dental work before placing them.
- The process of removing a layer of tooth enamel to prepare for veneers is irreversible, which means they are a lifetime commitment.
- Veneers are designed to be super-hin, so they look natural. Be aware that biting down too hard on certain foods like nuts or popcorn kernels can easily crack or chip them. Also, don't chew on ice or use your teeth as tools to open packages.
- After you get your veneers, be sure to take proper care of the underlying teeth and gums by brushing at least twice a day and flossing once.
With proper care, your veneers can last as long as ten years.
